MINISTRY OF ADVANCED EDUCATION

Responsible for an adult learning system that provides accessible, affordable and high quality education for Albertans. The Ministry prepares Albertans for lifelong success through education by approving programs of study; funding public post-secondary institutions and other adult learning providers; providing financial aid for learners; registering and certifying apprentices; supporting academic research and innovation.
Our programs and services are driven by 3 outcomes: Adult learning opportunities are accessible and affordable for all Albertans; High-quality education, skills development and research make a positive contribution to Alberta’s economy, society, culture and environment; and the adult learning system is accountable and coordinated.

IMPLEMENT AND LEAD A TRAINING AND AWARENESS PROGRAM TO ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN THE RESPONSE CAPABILITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT TO AN OPERATIONAL DISRUPTION.

  • Develop and deliver training tailored to meet all levels of understanding from Executive to administrative personnel, so that all staff are aware of their roles and of the department response structures.
  • Develop various channels and material to promote awareness of emergency management roles.
  • Develop and lead various types of exercises to test continuity and emergency plans in accordance with existing requirements in policy and legislation, including OHS.
  • Represent the department in GoA-wide training and awareness sessions to facilitate knowledge transfer and implementation into the department’s response capacity.
  • Develop exercise scenarios to validate emergency and continuity plans for a range of hazards or risks.
  • Lead continuity and emergency procedures exercises, including crisis communications plans.Evaluate the success of the exercises and integrate lessons identified into future planning and response activities (e.g., update plans, increase or change training approach or materials).

QUALIFICATIONS

University graduation in a related field (Emergency, Risk, or Disaster Management. Recognized BCP designation desired). Plus 4 years of progressively responsible related experience. Alternatively, 1 year of education for 1 year of experience
