The Opportunity
Our Security Team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are seeking a Security Specialist with in-depth security program and risk analysis experience to join our team. With our current focus on enterprise security and program governance, facility, and employee physical security, executive security and upgrading access control and video systems, we are seeking someone who is passionate about driving results safely and mitigating risk.
You will contribute to the success of the team by developing and implementing governance of policies and procedures that support the Enterprise Security Program, establishing a security network with all internal and external stakeholders, developing and maintaining risk assessments to identify domestic and global security risks and threats, and implementing security plans and measures to mitigate these risks. A significant level of response and service including on-call duties may be required.

What you’ll do

  • Monitor the implementation of the Enterprise Security Program, Policies, Procedures and Standards across the enterprise and footprint of South Bow Inc.
  • Support the implementation of the Personal Protection Plan for Senior Leaders and personnel as required
  • Provide expertise in assessing security threats for personnel including risk assessments for company events, responding to opposition and demonstration, workplace violence, hostile intruders, and international travel
  • Guide security planning for the South Bow team with respect to personal safety at open houses and speaking engagements
  • Conduct Security Vulnerability Assessments (SVA), Critical Facility Assessments and implement a measurable and sustainable tracking system to monitor implementation and recommendations
  • Develop and implement a facility inspection process for Critical Facilities
  • Conduct field inspections to evaluate conformance, prepare operations for regulatory inspections, and facilitate Security related compliance inspections and assessments
  • Develop Facility or Physical Security Plans for existing facilities and new projects/facilities
  • Design and implement risk mitigation and physical security solutions including barriers, video surveillance and access control for new and existing facilities
  • Gather and analyze information from various sources to assess security threats and determine risk profiles including maintaining a security network within each line of business and externally with industry/non- industry colleagues, Law Enforcement, government and intelligence agenciesManage security compliance under various regulations including the Canadian Energy Regulator (CER), and Transportation Security Administration (TSA)
  • Partner with Internal Audit and Human Resources with incident investigations related to security threats, malicious or criminal activity or workplace violence
  • Develop and deliver security training and security awareness presentations to employees and contractors
  • Ability to supervise and direct contract security- and security focused project teams.Assist with emergency, business continuity and crisis management responses when required and provide security recommendations

Minimum Qualifications

  • University degree in a related discipline such as criminal justice, business administration, or related field
  • Ten (10) or more years of progressive experience in corporate security within a diverse organization or law enforcement/intelligence experience
  • Knowledge of regulations, applicable standards, guidelines, physical security standards and industry best practices relevant to corporate security and the oil and gas, energy and power industries
  • Subject matter expertise in policy, procedures, standards, regulatory requirements, governance, physical security technology, design and implementation, personal protection, security vulnerability assessments, investigations and emergency management
  • Strong understanding of physical security applications
  • Knowledge of the law in civil and criminal jurisdiction and ability to conduct thorough investigations into security related issues
  • Ability to coordinate, develop and meet deadlines for weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting.
  • Ability to develop and deliver training and awareness materials to a variety of groups.
  • Experience with security incident analysis, metrics and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of physical security technologies, design and implementation.
  • High degree of personal integrity and trust necessary to perform confidential assignments and investigations
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered

Preferred Qualifications

  • Board Certified in Security Management – Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation from ASIS International OR Physical Security Professional (PSP) designation from ASIS International
  • Ability to work with team members in diverse locations across North America.
  • Excellent analytical skills, ability to interpret data and events, and provide evaluation of impact and mitigation
  • Experience with major projects and field deployments including developing security plans and implementing security measures for major construction projects or emergency responses

This position requires candidates to:

  • Have current, valid authorization to travel internationally (including but not limited to Canada and US)
  • Successfully complete pre-employment medical screening including drug and alcohol testing
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training (estimated up 25% of work schedule)
