Job Description
You will develop and generate new business opportunities within all segments and products for the Viva Energy Polymers business in the NSW and QLD markets. The key deliverables include development and execution of our Polyethylene and Polypropylene growth strategy to maximise value for Viva Energy and our customers. You will play a part in delivering Circular Economy solutions as Viva Energy develops locally sourced recycled polymers to find meaningful solutions to plastic waste in Australia.
You will work in close collaboration with the local and international Supply Chain, Product Management, Finance and Strategic Sourcing teams to ensure we capture ongoing sales that deliver a material increase in our market position and find the appropriate balance between risk and reward.

In this role you will:

  • Ensure business relationships are developed with key customer contacts to protect & grow our sales.
  • Continually reinforce Viva Energy’s value proposition to customers to maximise revenue & margin.
  • Manage customer relationships across every level and hold primary responsibility for all commercial aspects.
  • Progress our Circular Economy agenda via securing opportunities to supply both mechanically and advanced recycled polymers to converters and brands.
  • Develop a pipeline of new business opportunities and assist in developing our growth strategy.
  • Establish and manage customer-specific sales contracts to ensure achievement of volume and price targets in line with Business Plan.
  • Develop a deep understanding of market segments, customers and product applications and develop opportunities to grow our share and margins.
  • In conjunction with product management, co-ordinate and promote the market development and commercialisation of new grades with customers and brand owners.
  • Manage the sales forecasting process for all customer accounts to ensure accurate and timely information is provided to the Supply Chain team.
  • Assist in effective management of the accounts receivable process (within the credit committee) to optimise DSO and risk.
  • Manage commercial risk & liability by ensuring that appropriate contracts are in place for higher risk applications.
  • Work with the Logistics team to ensure excellence in customer service is providing through focused Order Management and coordination of Order Fulfilment activities.

Qualifications
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate strong commerciality, solid negotiation skills and a have a good understanding of supply contracts, the competitive environment and a proven track record in managing customers across all levels from General Manager down to the shop floor.
This role requires a highly collaborative and driven candidate with the ability to identify opportunities through market scanning and to develop a deep understanding of the competitive environment to deliver profitable and sustainable commercial outcomes.
This role requires relationship building, collaboration, negotiation, contracts and pricing. Should be comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy with appropriate support provided from the Polymers leadership team.

ABOUT YOU:

You will be a strategic, commercially focused emerging leader with Tertiary qualifications in an Engineering, Applied Science and/or Business discipline, along with Intermediate IT capabilities (SAP R3 or JDE, Microsoft Office, Salesforce etc.). You will have a proven history of relationship building, collaboration, negotiation, contracts, pricing and aligning multiple stakeholders towards a common goal. You should be comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy and with little direction or supervision from the line manager. Previous experience in distribution sales will be advantageous.
The role will be based in either our NSW or QLD office, with regular travel to the Viva Energy head office in VIC.
