Description:

Rock West Composites, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Director.
Rock West Composites, Inc. is an engineering and manufacturing company dedicated to providing innovative solutions for commercial and government customers. This position can be located in our San Diego, CA or West Jordan, Utah office. Reports to our VP of Commercial Equipment.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Join our dynamic team as the Business Development Director and spearhead our quest for new business opportunities across diverse industries. You will be responsible for driving growth in custom products, stock products, and distribution products, with a primary focus on custom composite products for our esteemed Commercial Equipment clients.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS or BA) in engineering or a technical major.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in composites and/or Commercial Equipment sales.
  • Proficiency in budget establishment and expenditure tracking to ensure profitability.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective customer interaction.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Commercial Equipment structures, including design, analysis, and fabrication.
  • Familiarity with composite materials such as tapes, fabrics, braids, prepregs, and resin infusion fibers (e.g., carbon fiber, fiberglass, quartz, Kevlar) and resins like epoxy, vinyl ester, and cyanate ester.
  • Understanding of composite finishing processes, such as trimming, drilling, coating, etc.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong work ethic and dedication.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be a US Person (Resident Alien or US Citizen).

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Forge strategic partnerships: Identify and engage key clients in various industries such as Automotive, Agricultural, Automation, Construction, Electronics, Energy, Industrial, Material Conversion, Medical, Metrology, and Robotics.
  • Develop growth plans: Create comprehensive growth plans for assigned key accounts, pinpointing the specific programs we are targeting.
  • Exceed sales targets: Utilize both traditional and innovative sales methods to surpass annual sales targets.
  • Drive business development initiatives: Spearhead the development and organization of new business development initiatives, enhance market share, implement effective pricing strategies, control expenses, and deliver top-notch technical services.
  • Cultivate strong relationships: Foster strong working relationships with clients, prospects, suppliers, and internal teams to propel strategic sales growth plans forward.
  • Collaborate and provide feedback: Act as a liaison between Rock West teams and customers, providing valuable feedback about customer needs.
  • Intellectual property protection: Provide leadership to ensure the protection of all new innovations and intellectual property.
  • Manage customer qualification process: Oversee the customer qualification process, seamlessly managing the sales process from project conception to technical validation and mass production.
  • Lead generation and trade shows: Follow up on leads generated by our website and travel to visit customers, attend trade shows, and other industry events.
