We are seeking a highly skilled Business Development Director to join our client, a leading investment firm in China focused on biotech and AI.The successful candidate will be responsible for expanding portfolio companies into the Singaporean and Southeast Asian markets. This role is based in Singapore

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute business development strategies that will facilitate the entry and expansion of the portfolio companies into the Singaporean and Southeast Asian markets.
  • Evaluate potential business opportunities, partnerships, and collaborations for portfolio companies in the target regions
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, industry players, government agencies, and local partners to drive business growth and opportunities.
  • Provide strategic advice and market insights to portfolio companies, helping them navigate and capitalize on the regional market dynamics
  • Work closely with portfolio company leadership teams to understand their business objectives and tailor growth plans specific to the Singaporean and Southeast Asian markets
  • Negotiate business deals, contracts, and agreements on behalf of portfolio companies
  • Stay updated with industry trends, market developments, and regulatory changes in Singapore and the Southeast Asian region, providing timely market intelligence to portfolio companies
  • Collaborate with the investment team to identify potential investment targets that align with the firm’s strategic focus in the region.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from a prestigious university, preferably in a tech-related field.
  • Proven track record in business development and market expansion, with a focus on Singapore and/or Southeast Asian markets
  • Strong industry connections and a well-established network in the relevant sectors, such as technology, finance, healthcare, or other emerging industries
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or related roles, with a successful track record of achieving business objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to identify market trends, opportunities, and risks, and to develop effective market entry and expansion strategies.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders and decision-makers
  • Highly adaptable and capable of working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin is required.
