Description:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited college or university in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering
Minimum 10+ years of Experience in engineering, including testing/certification of aircraft seating and knowledge of Collins seating products.

Competence with Microsoft Office suite to include Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to write routine documents and correspondence
  • Ability to use reasoning, creativity and rational analysis to reduce the scope of certification, while maintaining the compliance of the product.
  • Experience analyzing and identifying failure modes of systems
  • Prior experience reviewing and approving drawings.
  • Advanced knowledge of product certification including knowledge of PMA/TSO/STC/OEM qualification and certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and productively with team members and cross functional teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of various Collins Aerospace products and services
  • Knowledge of FEA and other simulation tools used to mitigate certification risks or reduce the scope of certification effort

Responsibilities:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicates with customer and with integrated project team to establish understanding of customer’s technical requirements and convey certification capabilities, requirements, organizational expertise.
  • Creates and reviews technical proposals for customers by integrating knowledge of product, regulatory requirements, market, price point, organizational capabilities, and business strategy.
  • Coordinates activities to ensure that all agreed upon product specific certification requirements are met. This may include working with DERs, ODAs, DOAs, OEMs, or FAA/CAAs and/or holding regulatory authorities and approval functions.
  • Conducts reviews of complex analyses and tests pertaining to the development of new designs, methods, materials and reports to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Reviews entail advanced engineering principles, company standards/procedures, industry standards, regulatory guidance, and regulatory requirements. Provides constructive feedback to internal and external customers.
  • Business travel will be required up to 25% of time.
  • Researches regulations, develops critical data, and generates documentation in response to customer/integrator requirements and/or FAA or foreign regulatory agency requests. Effectively communicates with necessary parties.
  • Enhances technical knowledge through training, reading technical publications, and participating in the development of industry standards.
  • Participates in defining of engineering approaches and in planning/scheduling work.
  • Responsible program specific certification strategy and risk mitigation
  • Participates as a team player across the organization and keep the values and vision of the organization.
  • Mentors and provides training to other engineers.
