Description:

JOB TITLE: Business Development Engineer
MANAGER: Lead Business Development Engineer
LOCATION: Cape Town

QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS:

  • Engineering Degree or similar
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Own vehicle
  • National and Select Continental Travel will be required.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Very strong technical problem-solving skills with the ability to provide solutions in client meetings when presented with technical queries
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Attention to detail and methodical approach
  • Excellent Communications Skills for presentations and meetings
  • Excellent Office skills and computer literacy
  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently
  • Ability to work across teams to provide tactical insight and solution thinking
  • Excel, Word and PowerPoint template development

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Highly Analytical and Attention to Detail
  • Solar PV Modelling Skills and detailed understanding of PV Sol Premium, PV Syst, Excel and electricity tariff structures
  • Financial Literacy
  • Good understanding of LV electrical reticulation systems

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • 1 – 3 years Engineering Experience
  • 1 – 3 years client engagement experience with verified references

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of concept and preliminary designs for solar photovoltaic and energy storage projects
  • Detailed costing of solutions and financial modelling in developing the deal for presentation to the client
  • Assist in Research and Development of new technologies and technical solutions to enhance business offering
  • Preparation of tender and proposal documentation
  • Preparation of deal and sales presentations surrounding projects and portfolios
  • Attending business development client meetings acting in the role of technical expert and sales support to the Business Development Team, including the Business Development Director and Chief Executive Officer
  • Solving of a variety of ad hoc client and internal requests, providing quick turnaround times
  • Liaising with Engineering team’s during transition of projects into the execution phase
