Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

The Business Development Manager will work to grow the flooring business by meeting to develop relationships with contractors, real estate agents, property managers, etc. at their places of business and within the communities of Sioux Falls, Madison, Watertown, Aberdeen, and surrounding communities. This position will also work in conjunction with the sales team to grow Floorcovering sales and will assist walk-in customers as needed. This position will have a full understanding of the core product line, special-order items and their applications. This position may give presentations to architects, designers, and customers to educate them on the flooring industry and how Montgomery’s can benefit them on their projects. This position requires a self-starter that can work independently with meticulous attention to detail.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum education required: High school graduate, college degree preferred in Business, Marketing or related field.
  • 3-5 years sales experience in floor covering products preferred
  • Bid preparation, sales or related industry experience preferred
  • Must pass pre-employment background and drug screening and have a current driver’s license

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (customers, vendors, designers and employees) to communicate professionally and respectfully with diverse groups of individuals.
  • Strong computer skills in general software application, along with experience in retail order entry software.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic, prioritizing critical issues to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Enthusiastic, positive attitude, with professional communication
  • Excellent product knowledge, including ceramic, stone, carpet, resilient and wood,
  • Ability to read and work with architectural blueprints
  • Knowledge of basic Microsoft programs such as Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficient skills in basic math to include addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.

Responsibilities:

ADDITIONAL DUTIES REQUIRED:

This position will also be responsible for interfacing with customers to acquire accurate measurements of space(s) and create renderings of area slated for flooring and tile installations. They will also interface with the installers and communicate with the Salesperson about any problems that may arise during installation. The ability to prioritize critical issues and ensure all deadlines are met is necessary.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversees the contractor list for all opportunities to grow the flooring business through sales
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with existing clients.
  • Builds market position by locating, developing, defining, and closing business relationships.
  • Identifies trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements.
  • Generates new business leads through various channels, including cold calling, networking, and digital marketing.
  • Conducts market research to identify potential new markets and business opportunities.
  • Analyzes industry trends and competitive landscapes to stay ahead of market changes.
  • Develops and implements strategic business development plans to achieve company goals and objectives.
  • Works closely with the marketing and sales teams to align business development efforts with overall company strategy.
  • Oversees the organization of the flooring merchandise in the warehouse so that deliveries and pickups are prepared and ready to load out for installation.
  • Interfaces with customers to acquire accurate measurements of space(s) and create renderings of area slated for flooring and tile installations.
  • Interfaces with the installers and communicates with the sales team about any problems that may arise during installation
  • Coordinates installation efforts with outside contractors
  • Reads and interprets construction drawings
  • Creates work orders, installer paperwork, and seaming diagrams.
  • Takes accurate measurements and creates drawings of accurate room diagrams.
  • Receives merchandise from suppliers following bar coding and other reporting procedures. This includes unloading shipments of product, accurately identifying the product, printing receiving labels, physically transferring product to bin locations utilizing a bar code scanner and following up on all other related paperwork.
  • Safely utilizes carpet cutting system and other equipment necessary to complete assigned duties.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
