Description:
The Museum has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic professional to join the Commercial and Enterprise team in the role of Business Development Manager. The Commercial and Enterprise business unit is dedicated to driving revenue generation and enhancing visitor experiences at the Museum. Through strategic management of retail operations, venue services, tourism services and external sales, the unit aims to maximise commercial opportunities while delivering exceptional customer service. By fostering innovation and collaboration, the unit contributes to the financial sustainability of the Museum and enriches visitor engagement.
The Business Development Manager plays a crucial role as a driver of commercial growth and engagement initiatives for the Museum. Taking a lead role in shaping the Museum’s revenue growth trajectory and commercial sustainability, the role oversees strategic initiatives to drive business development, optimise existing commercial operations, and identify new revenue streams including across digital and e-commerce platforms. The Business Development Manager communicates and collaborates internally to build commercial capability across the Museum, as well as fostering relationships with external partners and stakeholders to identify and leverage opportunities for commercial growth. This role is pivotal in advancing the Museum’s mission and strategic objectives, contributing to its financial sustainability, market positioning and reputation as a premier cultural destination.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive, integrated business development plans and strategies to drive revenue growth, expand market presence and share of sales, and identify new commercial opportunities.
- Take lead responsibility for the Museum’s commercial growth, incorporating change management principles to promote a culture of financial responsibility across the Museum.
- Monitor and analyse key performance metrics, financial data, inventory, and customer feedback to assess the effectiveness of commercial initiatives and develop reports that track progress against targets and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Analyse market trends, consumer insights, and industry developments to inform strategic decision-making, identify growth opportunities, and anticipate emerging challenges and opportunities for e-commerce growth.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to identify, negotiate, and secure commercial collaborations that support revenue growth and business objectives.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including Museum leadership, external partners, and industry peers, to advance the Museum’s commercial interests and strategic priorities.
- Manage projects to effectively plan, execute, and evaluate growth and engagement initiatives, ensuring alignment with organisational goals, timelines, and budgetary requirements.
- Manage Commercial contracts including oversight of contract compliance and performance management.
