Job Title: Business Intelligence Analyst
Department or Location: Finance
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer

SUMMARY:

The BI Analyst combines mathematical, statistical, analytical and data mining expertise, knowledge of the financial industry, and programming skills to research, collect, analyze and interpret large data sets from internal and external sources to develop data-driven solutions to difficult business challenges. Integrates and prepares large, varied data sets, architects specialized data and computing environments and communicates results in a way that can be easily understood by business counterparts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS degree in accounting, finance, mathematics, or statistics; MBA preferred.
  • Three to five years of previous work experience in analytics and modeling environments in the finance industry.
  • Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex data to a diverse audience.
  • Knowledge of financial institution policies and procedures preferred.
  • Previous experience with Fiserv and Business Analytics preferred.
  • Experience with various BI tools such as SQL, Power BI, Tableau, etc. preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads discovery processes with stakeholders to identify business requirements and expected outcome of analyses. Collaborates with internal clients to leverage knowledge of the business best practices to provide strategic decision support.
  • Create and maintain a suite of management and department dashboards of Key Performance Indicators and Metrics.
  • Determines the most appropriate analytical approaches, computing techniques and data sources to translate business requirements into information delivery.
  • Development and processing of Fiserv Business Analytical reports and dashboards.
  • Coordination of data and generation of reports from the Bank’s third-party vendor Journey Technology. Ensure a healthy balance of leveraging third party expertise with in-house development.
  • Administer and manage the various databases created and used.
  • Act as a data steward to harness, acquire, import, merge, reshape and store data for ongoing use. Monitor data quality to identify and troubleshoot data anomalies and discrepancies, such as duplicates and illogical or missing data.
  • Design processes and develops procedures to utilize new and existing data. Coordinates new data implementation efforts. Design processes and develops procedures to overcome data barriers to the completion of projects or reaching objectives.
  • Extract or export data from bank’s core database system into Microsoft Office products and Fiserv Business Analytics software to produce visualization reports and dashboards to distribute to end users.
  • Create and/or maintain detailed documentation and support relative to the bank’s overall data reporting processes.
  • Continually research, propose and implement improvements to business intelligence infrastructure.
  • Work with IT department to ensure system data architecture and back up/recovery processes are in place and functioning correctly.
