JOB DESCRIPTION

The Machine Learning Center of Excellence (MLCOE) partners across the firm to build and deliver high-impact machine learning solutions for the firm’s most challenging business problems. We actively collaborate with data analytics, engineering and product teams across all functions – from sales and trading, to digital, operations, finance and risk – and every line of business from wholesale banking through to retail. Comprised of a multi-disciplinary community of experts, focused exclusively on Machine Learning, the MLCOE employs cutting-edge techniques in disciplines such as Deep Learning and Reinforcement Learning, in domains such as natural language processing, speech analytics, time series, graph analytics and large language models. For more information about the MLCOE, please visit https://www.jpmorgan.com/mlcoe.

The objective of the team is to become a vanguard in providing unrivalled operational support to the scaling of ML across JPMC and be best-in-class at doing this across the wider industry also. The team collaborates closely with senior leaders, data scientists, engineers, and product managers throughout the MLCOE, as well as multiple supporting functions across the firm, such as Business Support Management, Human Resources, Real Estate, and Global Technology. Consequently, this team has a fantastic position, engaging with each of JPMC’s lines of business, and is consistently at the heart of informing and executing strategy within both the MLCOE and the wider firm.
The prospective candidate will undertake a multifaceted role, encompassing responsibilities from leading university outreach programs and culture agenda initiatives, to executing compliance and control measures across the MLCOE’s extensive book of work. This role demands public representation of MLCOE, refined ability to handle technical details including Excel spreadsheets, creating bespoke presentations, and automated reports. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated, tenacious, and a true team player. They must be able to confidently engage with stakeholders across various levels, contribute strategically, and perform hands-on work to implement strategies and plans. A combination of personability and technical competence is desired, along with proactiveness in identifying opportunities for process transformation, technical acumen to automate manual tasks, and emerging leadership skills to steer these changes successfully. The role serves as an exceptional entry or progression point in the AI/ML domain within financial services, particularly for those aspiring to flourish in this career field within a reputed team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide Business Operations support for distinct MLCOE products, ensuring their compliance with firmwide standards and internal processes.
  • Bolster the larger compliance and control activities within MLCOE, ranging from change management projects to execution of Business-As-Usual processes.
  • Lead MLCOE’s university outreach program in the United Kingdom and assist in shaping the global outreach strategy for the wider organization.
  • Facilitate marketing support for internal and external events across the team’s EMEA footprint; this includes managing attendees, logistics, and marketing materials.
  • Support and where directed lead the culture and people agenda for the MLCOE – from diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) initiatives to coordinating team cohesion activities.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and readiness to transition to other projects and initiatives within MLCOE upon necessity.
  • Be prepared to collaborate closely with Business Support Management, Human Resources and hiring managers in facilitating the onboarding and orientation processes for new employees.
  • Be prepared to partner with Business Support Management in EMEA managing real estate related matters which include technological equipment and planning and execution of location strategies.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with experience in business management, preferably within AI/ML, technology or financial services.
  • High level of communication skills, with superb organizational and project management abilities.
  • Proven team player, capable of working in a high-paced environment with rapidly changing tasks.
  • Expert to intermediate knowledge of Office tools, most notably Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience of and/or willingness and ability to become an expert on other tools, included but not limited to Tableau, Alteryx and other project management software.
