Description:
THE OPPORTUNITY
WSDOT is seeking an experienced engineer to serve as the Business Operations Engineer for our SR 520 Bridge Replacement, HOV Program and Alaskan Way Viaduct Replacement Program (AWV) in Seattle, WA. This position will play a key role in this multibillion-dollar program by overseeing quality review, development, coordination, execution, close-out, and on-time completion of various types of agreements between WSDOT and other parties as required for successful project delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered for the TE 2 level, the following are required:
- Two (2) years of experience as a Transportation Engineer 1, Transportation Technician 3, Bridge Engineer 1, or equivalent
- Two (2) years of experience in business practices, program management, planning, engineering, construction management, accounting, or related field.
To be considered for the TE 3 level, the following are required:
- Two (2) years of experience as a Transportation Engineer 2 or equivalent, such as Bridge Engineer 2 or Transportation Planning Specialist 2
- Three (3) years of experience in business practices, program management, planning, engineering, construction management, accounting, or related field.
In addition to one of the above, the following are required at all levels:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat PDF software.
- Knowledge of government contracting.
- Ability to compile and interpret data.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, and handle multiple priorities.
- Ability to work as part of a team, work well with others and maintain a professional demeanor, follow instructions, and accept constructive feedback.
- Excellent aptitude in problem-solving.
- Strong writing, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:
- Knowledge of WSDOT manuals to understand, interpret and apply information.
- Knowledge of WSDOT agreements, policies, and procedures.
- Experience working with agreements, task orders, task assignments.
- Experience prioritizing a busy workload to address Program/Project needs.
- Experience with WSDOT systems and information resources including COGNOS, TRAINS, FIRS, ARTS, and Consultant Services Database.
- Possess a thorough working knowledge of agency policies, standards, and procedures.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, manage and lead task order development, administrative management, and closeout of agreement/contracts.
- Assist with the preparation of contract documents and ensure they are written in accordance with WSDOT policy and standards.
- Lead and monitor recordkeeping of projects,
- Provide information and updates to internal staff and other groups.
- Research and provide interpretations of existing agreement/task orders
