Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) is a fully integrated, progressive, easy-to-use public transit system that provides over 80 million rides every year. Transit plays an important role in city building and provides seamless connection within Edmonton and the region by focusing on three pillars: service, infrastructure, and technology.
ETS is continually improving how we support Edmontonians’ transit needs and expectations. To support this we are looking for an innovative and strategically-minded individual to join our team within ETS as a Business Technology Analyst!
As a Business Technology Analyst, within the Technical Services team, you will perform highly complex and specialized work encompassing research, interpretations, analyses, development, reporting, and recommendations related to the broad technology systems used by, and that will best fit, ETS’ operational needs.
What will you do?
- Evaluate technology solutions using methods and tools including, but not limited to, stakeholder engagement, feasibility & cost-benefit analysis, and others as appropriate
- Lead project stakeholders using defined project management templates, tools, and techniques to deliver strategic outcomes and operational
- Assist with operational and strategic planning, including developing and maintaining technology roadmaps
- Understand and maintain strong business knowledge while applying an operational, governance, and policy lens to ensure technology systems continue to serve customers and the Branch
- Provide support on external projects to ensure alignment with ETS’ broader outcomes, applicable standards, and guidelines
- Continue to research emerging technologies and industry trends while keeping an awareness of technology impacts on internal or external business areas
- Identify and recommend opportunities to improve any business, process, or technology systems in alignment with ETS, Corporate, and Council’s strategic objectives
- Contribute to the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of branch/section-level technology systems, business processes, and practices
- Research, review, and interpret data, policy, and regulations, to identify measurable improvements in technology systems, business processes, and performance
- Develop internal processes, training material, and policies related to technology systems used within ETS
Qualifications:
- A degree (equivalent or higher) in Business Technology Management, Computing Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in business technology, business analysis, or project management
- Experience developing business cases, project charters, stakeholder engagement, and other project management artifacts using relevant tools and techniques
- Experience assessing the effectiveness of business programs or policies using operational measurement data from applicable analysis tools and techniques
SKILLS REQUIRED FOR SUCCESS:
- Knowledge of the integration of strategic planning, policy development, and business performance metrics into operational practice
- Proven expertise in designing and implementing both primary and secondary research methodologies, adept at data collection, and skilled in analyzing and presenting trends and results
- Demonstrated effective data gathering, analysis, and synthesis using process analysis tools and methods
- Ability to make supported recommendations and develop briefing documents for effective communication and decision-making
- Must have a proven ability to plan, prioritize, schedule, and independently execute working assignments occasionally with tight timelines
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability in writing reports and delivering presentations expressing complex ideas and concepts effectively and persuasively
