QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Metallurgical or similar qualification) and/or Production Management
- Studing towards Post Graduate Qualification in Business and/or Project Management will be advantageous.
- Metallurgist knowledge and experience will be advantageous/beneficial.
- Supervisory/Management Course – Focused on People Management
- 3-5 years’ experience working at a middle management level within an Engineering/Industrial environment
- Must have experience in executing plans, delivering business goals, and implementing changes in order to achieve or exceed targets
- Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing and lean principles
- Previous experience working within and or managing a unionized workforce
- Advanced computer literacy in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Experience using ERP’s (SAP)
- Must have driver’s license and own transport.

Responsibilities:
- Management of team members through the adherence of company policies and procedures
- Management of resources and costs to ensure that productivity, recoveries, turnaround time and sales targets are met
- Ensures compliance to production schedules, machine build plans, quality processes, efficiency standards and WIP
- Drive CI initiatives to ensure operational excellence (OpEx)
- Drives strategic plan for the business unit/s to ensure business grows in a sustainable manner
- Align resource requirements with capacity plan and conduct forward looking exercises to create predictability
- Promote the K-way and the Monozukuri principles of Komatsu
- Maintain and manage all equipment and tools
- Training and mentoring staff; motivating them all for effective performance for the general growth of the company
- Analyze and explore market trends; identifying new opportunities to grow the business.
- Coordinate with other HOD’s and managers to integrate objectives and ideas for organizational growth.
