Johnson & Johnson Vision Care is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of contact lenses. In our pioneering Limerick facility, we manufacture the Acuvue range of contact lenses, with a workforce of approx. 1,600 people. Due to continued and sustained growth of our business, we are now recruiting to support this growth!

JOB POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Operations Director and working closely with the Business Unit management team and line management, the position has direct responsibility for production of contact lenses to fulfill global planning schedule – within safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the key operations group in this capital intensive, high volume, cost focused, rapidly changing and growing, 24/7, highly automated environment; providing leadership within the Operations function that will deliver superior business results in-line with objectives.
  • Collaborate with other functions to achieve shared goals, ensuring there is close collaboration between associates in Engineering, R&D, Production, Regulatory, Quality Assurance, Planning, Materials, etc.
  • Institute continuous improvement projects and lead year on year efficiency improvement and activity reduction (lean)
  • Manage, develop and lead departmental staff in a manner that will facilitate employee development, identifying training needs, stretch assignments and opportunities for development.
  • Contribute to plant management issues and strategic decision-making
  • Manage growth and expansion of the operation
  • Monitor and revise production flow to ensure successful meeting of global production requirements
  • Plan and integrate effective transfer of new products into manufacturing process
  • Establish and report on achievement of key performance metrics
  • Accountable for the assurance of proper operations of all manufacturing equipment and processes, and initiating steps to address improvement areas
  • Participate in the development of business objectives, policies and procedures and disseminate to the department
  • Develop and implement the Operations function’s strategic imperatives in-line with the Plant strategic imperatives / objectives.
  • Create and maintain an environment of innovative continuous improvement, focusing on quality, cost reduction, process development and supply.
  • Ensure the Operations function conforms to Corporate, Franchise, Statutory, Legislative and Regulatory requirements for GMP, HSE and Quality.
  • Ensure regular communication of business performance/issues to all relevant employees.
  • Ensure responsibilities under the Quality System as defined in the Quality Manual are attained and maintained by Operations employees
  • Ensure all HSE requirements are fulfilled in accordance with the responsibilities defined in the Company Safety Statement and Environmental policy and actively promote Health & Safety within Operations, ensuring Health & Safety is a goal for all direct / indirect reports.
  • Manage functional expenses and direct labour costs to budget.
  • Lead the business transformation programme ensuring it is embraced and supported by all functions.
  • Create an environment of continuous improvement, focusing on customer, cost, quality and supply.
