JOB SUMMARY

  • We are looking for a Buyer to join the Tank team! This position is responsible for purchasing direct and indirect goods required for Tank Holding Corp. manufacturing. This includes resin, tank components, valve and coupler products, packaging materials and MRO related items.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of general business practices, general office equipment and personal computers and their operation is needed. Vast experience in the procurement of Metal products, price structure and market trending. Must be capable of reading and understanding bills of materials; engineering prints; maintain accurate records; communicate effectively both orally and in writing as well as being able to work with others. A BS degree or equivalent in business, purchasing or related field is preferred and a minimum of five years of related work experience is required. MRP or enterprise software background is helpful.

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Use Infor on ERP Systems for reports to generate PO’s, follow up and expedite orders
  • Develop and direct the negotiations with vendors for the purchase of raw steel and metal tank product line and develop non-domestic sources for materials.
  • Will track the steel market and report to senior management on current and future conditions.
  • Enter purchase orders as needed
  • Work with Customer service, scheduling and plants on stock outs and resolution
  • Enter purchasing department data and other related information into ERP Systems. To include: Buyer, supplier, pricing, min/max, safety stock and lead time information.
  • Adjust safety stock and inventory levels based on changes in sales and production demand and volume costing
  • Maintain item, supplier information and trouble shoot Purchasing and Materials issues as needed
  • High levels of daily communication required to address stock positions with relevant departments via phone, e-mail or in person
  • Find opportunities for new suppliers, pricing, lead-time and suitability of materials on an ongoing basis to annual targets
  • Work with vendors and engineering on purchased material quality issues
  • Formulate responses to inquires from other departments (i.e., customer service, engineering, scheduling)

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Review information received and maintain accurate records at all times. This includes vendor and purchase history.
  • Coordinate pickups and deliveries of purchased products as scheduled
