Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re on the lookout for a Generalist Buyer to help us fuel our growth and keep our shelves stocked with the latest and greatest products. You will be the catalyst behind our procurement success, responsible for buying merchandise that meets the needs of our customers within the challenging travel retail market. Other key responsibilities include:

  • Maximising gross profit and achieve profit budgets, through strategic purchasing.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships
  • Identify and leverage market trends through thorough research and analysis.
  • Define and curate product ranges that align with the WHSmith buying strategy.
  • This includes consideration of price points, packaging/presentation, pack size and break up, and any geographical consideration.
  • Regular analysis of sales data by reviewing profit, stock-turn, markdowns, subclass and supplier performance, to optimise merchandise plans.
  • Reviewing lost opportunities in relation to sales, i.e. supplier accountability on DIFOT, competitor activity and seasonal changes.
  • Maintain open relationships with key stakeholders (stores and management) through regular visits and phone calls.
