JOB DESCRIPTION
Section: By-Law and Animal Care and Control Services
Division: Corporate Security and By-Law Services
Department: Corporate Services
Initial Reporting Location: Tom Davies Square
Job Status: Limited Position
Estimated Probable Duration: Seven (7) Months (may be extended)
Affiliation: Inside Unit
Hours of Work: 70 hours bi-weekly
Shift Work Required: Yes - Some Evening and Weekend work required
Range of Pay: Group 14 - $38.65 to $47.42 per hour
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful completion of a two (2) year community college diploma program in a directly related discipline (e.g., Law and Security, Building Inspections, O.A.P.S.O. Diploma, Public Administration).
- Over two and one-half (2½) years up to and including five (5) years of related Municipal Law Enforcement, Police Enforcement, and/or Property Standards experience.
- Demonstrate understanding of Municipal By-Law Enforcement procedures and methods.
- Demonstrate interpersonal skills in dealing with the public in a courteous and effective manner.
- Demonstrate organizational, analytical, and administrative skills and ability to exercise judgement in procedures and methods used.
- Demonstrate ability to work with computer software and administrative systems in a Windows environment, (e.g., file maintenance, word processing, spreadsheet applications, information input and retrieval, etc.).
- Satisfactory health, attendance, and former employment history.
- Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
- French verbal skills highly desirable; written skills an asset.
- Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid driver’s licence, have an acceptable driving record, and personal insurance coverage.
