BY-LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER - SEASONAL STUDENT
Enhance your post-secondary studies in Law Enforcement with practical experience as a Seasonal By-law Enforcement Officer for the Town of Tillsonburg.
Reporting to the By-law Enforcement Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to By-law, conducting parking enforcement and gaining compliance with the Town By-laws through education and enforcement action when required.
The Seasonal By-law Enforcement Officer will be a temporary full-time position between the months of May and September.

End date: September 2, 2024
The hourly rate: $18.55
Weekly hours: 40.

Responsibilities:
- Responding in a timely fashion to residents’ concerns and inquiries.
- Investigating and documenting all concerns.
- Regular enforcement of the Town Parking By-Laws.
- Park enforcement and bike patrols.
- Attended court when necessary to provide evidence relating to charges laid including parking infractions.
- By-law administrative tasks and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Successfully completed or currently enrolled in Law & Security, Police Foundations or another related training course.
- Excellent oral/written communication skills with the ability to de-escalate conflict situations.
- The ability to exercise discretion and to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Candidates with training from the Municipal Law Enforcement Officers Association (MLEOA) or the Ontario Association of Property Standards Officer’s would be an asset.
Working Conditions:
- Typical hours (40 hrs/wk) Monday to Sunday from 8:00 am – 8:00 pm.
- This position requires work to be carried out in an outside field environment with exposure to hot and wet weather conditions to be expected.
- Must be physically fit and be able to walk for long periods of time/distance outdoors.
Requirements:
- Must have use of a reliable vehicle.
- Maintain a valid class “G” driver’s license and a clear Driver abstract.
- Must be willing to complete First Aid and CPR training.
- The successful applicant must obtain acceptable security clearance (must provide a Criminal Record Check) from the Ontario Provincial Police.
