JOB DESCRIPTION
W.F. Baird & Associates is seeking a dedicated, creative, and approachable CAD Drafting Technician for civil and structural engineering. The candidate will work with engineers, project managers, and other technical staff. Work will involve preparation of civil engineering drawings, gathering data, and presenting information in graphical form. This role will require the candidate to produce quality work, while meeting the budget and schedules of multiple concurrent projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5-10 years of experience using AutoCAD, including reinforced concrete and structural steel details, the development of horizontal and vertical alignments, grading, profiles, sections, quantities, surfaces, and knowledge of CAD standards.
- Strong communication skills in English is required
- Experience in MicroStation.
- Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent.
NICE TO HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience drafting piers, wharfs, ferry terminals, retaining or flood walls, and steel floodgates or similar structures (e.g. steel barges or moveable steel bridges)
- Experience in Civil 3D software, GIS, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, PowerPoint
Some travel will be required to undertake the job duties described above. Travel may be planned or on an immediate basis and the candidate will need to be flexible in meeting project deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- Lay out drawings sheets and drawing sets.
- Prepare design and construction drawings, base maps, figures, renderings and other graphics for projects using commercial software and internal protocols and client standards.
- Perform tasks such as digitizing, copying and scanning of drawings, prints and maps.
- Assist a diverse team of international engineers and scientist with all phases of projects
- Perform other duties as assigned.
