Description:

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for assisting research scientists, students, and faculty in the UTA Research Institute (UTARI) with the design, fabrication, modeling, and testing of technologies for research and development projects. Majority of activities will involve lab work. Perform job duties under direct supervision.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors of Sciense in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline with two (2) years relevant experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters of Science in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline with one (1) year relevant experience.
  • Experience with 3D printing (SLA and FDM), mechanical design, mold tool design, liquid polymer molding (injection, compression, and dip molding).
  • Experience with machining (Laser Engraver, WaterJet, Hand tools, etc).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • High proficiency in CAD software including SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to present findings/results through both oral and written communication to internal and external customers.
  • Able to multi-task, collaboratively work in interdisciplinary teams, work on projects independently.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform CAD Modeling and 3D printing.
  • Design mold tools.
  • Perform molding, such as injection and dip molding.
  • Perform mechanical assembly and prototyping.
  • Create engineering documentation such as standard operating procedures (SOP) and design history.
  • Conduct testing and data collection, validation, and quality control.
  • Contribute to reports. Maintain awareness of current technological advancements related to your field.
