Description:
R.J. Burnside & Associates Limited (Burnside) has an opening for a CAD Technician or Technologist from a Civil Engineering Technology program to join our Private Sector Land Development Group, working out of our Pickering office. We also welcome new graduates with interest or exposure to Private Sector Land Development projects to apply.
The Burnside Pickering office is conveniently located near major transportation routes including Highway 401, Brock Road, and within walking distance to the Pickering GO train station.
THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS ARE REQUIRED:
- Diploma from a civil engineering technology program;
- Proficiency in design software including AutoCAD Civil 3D is considered an asset;
- Experience working as part of a project team in a consulting environment is considered an asset;
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills;
- Strong oral and written communication skills;
- Ability to multi-task and work on a number of projects concurrently;
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment;
- A valid Ontario driver’s license with access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities:
This position will involve carrying out the following tasks, and includes working with a team of engineers, CETs, EITs, and other technical professionals, to achieve this:
- Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to design and produce functional, preliminary, and detailed design drawings for a wide variety of Land Development projects;
- Production of detailed engineering drawings including grading, servicing, plan &profile, and cross-section drawings and details;
- Proactively advance design techniques and procedures to support designers, project managers and technicians;
- Prepare quantity take-offs , to support preparation of tender packages;
- Other duties as assigned.
