Description:

Due to service development an exciting opportunity has arisen within the Milton Keynes CAMHS Liaison Intensive Support and Home Treatment Team.
The role will focus on children and young people presenting at Emergency Department (ED) and on the medical wards, ensuring effective psycho-social assessment, risk assessment and discharge planning including referral to appropriate services, and sign posting to relevant third sector partners.

The successful applicants will also liaise with colleagues and provide education, support and advice to staff within general hospital setting on a range of areas aimed at improving their understanding and management of mental health and self-harm. To provide intensive home treatment/support for up to 8 weeks. Provide emergency (within 4 hours) or urgent (within 24-48hrs) response to young people presenting to A&E, or have been referred to the Home Treatment Team via agreed crisis referral pathways.

The post holder will carry out initial assessments of children and young people presenting in the A&E Department and on the wards of Milton Keynes General Hospital in mental health crisis, following an overdose, psychosis, deliberate self-harm or suicidal ideation.
The post holder will focus on children and young people presenting at Emergency Department (ED) and on the medical wards, ensuring effective psycho-social assessment, risk assessment and discharge planning including referral to appropriate services, and sign posting to relevant third sector partners.
The post holder will also liaise with colleagues and provide education, support and advice to staff within general hospital setting on a range of areas aimed at improving their understanding and management of mental health and self-harm.
The post holder will provide intensive home treatment/support for up to 8 weeks. Provide emergency (within 4 hours) or urgent (within 24-48hrs) response to young people presenting to A&E, or have been referred to the Home Treatment Team via agreed crisis referral pathways.
The post holder will undertake home support to avoid admission to hospital or to minimise length of time spent in hospital by providing an intensive community package of immediate post-discharge support to children/young people.
To provide evidence based, short term interventions to children and young people such as: distraction/relaxation techniques, positive coping strategies, positive risk management, safety planning and risk reduction (self-harming behaviours), psycho education to service users and families/carers, and CBT-based interventions focussed on anxiety management
