Description:

The East Sussex CAMHS Duty and Liaison Service have a Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner position which are b ased across East Sussex.
This part time role 30 Hours per week covering weekdays and weekends. Fixed term or Secondment through to 25/4/25.
The CAMHS East Sussex Duty and Liaison Team is developing their Urgent Health Care service and as a result an exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Urgent Care Practitioner maternity cover, band 6. This role offers the perfect opportunity for career progression due to the skills that you will learn through this type of work. The role will be variable and exciting, sometimes challenging and there is a need for flexibility but it is always very interesting and rewarding. You will need to be motivated, forward thinking and have a strong commitment to providing high quality care to provide the best outcomes for young people. Excellent risk assessment and safety planning skills are essential to this role.
Primarily you will be supporting young people and their carers who are presenting with a mental health crisis via telephone, Attend Anywhere or offering face to face assessments. There will be an opportunity in this role to deliver therapeutic interventions alongside crisis care planning and management. You will be supporting young people who are waiting for interventions from tier 3 CAMHS as part of the duty role.
We are looking for an experienced mental health practitioner, preferably with some previous experience of duty and A&E Liaison within a community based mental health team with excellent risk assessment and care planning skills. You should be willing to work autonomously as well as part of a team. The team thrives through being supportive to each other in an environment that can be changeable due to service capacity and demand. You will need to be flexible, be able to participate in the shift pattern of the team and have excellent communication skills. In return you will be well supported by experienced clinicians who will help you to develop and thrive in this environment. All your skills and training will be fully utilised and developed through clinical supervision and training
To respond to referrals made to the duty team from a variety of sources. To prioritise work according to the level of urgency. To work closely with young people, their carers and other professionals in order to facilitate a safe plan of care.
To support tier 3 CAMHS with young people who are awaiting allocation of a Lead Practitioner, therapeutic work or are waiting for an initial assessment with therapeutic interventions.
To respond to referrals from A&E and acute hospital wards and carry out comprehensive assessments including risk assessment and safety care planning. To ensure high quality communication and effective relationships within the Duty and Liaison Team and our general hospital colleagues, other agencies and carers.
To work with general hospital staff providing interventions and support to patients who are staying on acute hospital wards awaiting the allocation of appropriate mental health services
