Are you an experienced RMN looking for a new and exciting role?
We have an opportunity that has arisen for an experienced and passionate Mental Health Nurse to join the CAMHS KCW Urgent Care hub which covers St Mary’s and Chelsea & Westminster acute hospitals.
St Mary’s is a 5 min walk from Paddington Station and located within easy access from the Elizabeth Line.
As part of the North West London CAMHS Transformation, CNWL CAMHS is continuing to develop a 24hr crisis care pathway aimed at helping Children and Young People including those with a learning disability, presenting with an acute mental health crisis. We are looking for a motivated nurse to join the KCW CAMHS Urgent Care team to provide face to face A&E psychiatric assessment, risk assessment, manage a small caseload, offer therapeutic interventions, work closely with the community CAMHS team, and review young people whilst also working in partnership with families. Also offering a 3 day (long days) Work Shift Pattern.

Manage a small caseload.
Offer therapeutic interventions to young people and their families in crisis.
Attend A&E for mental health assessment, and safe discharge plan.
Offer review appointments.
Work collaboratively with community CAMHS, Social-Services, Schools, and Other teams in the locality.

To undertake initial mental health and risk assessments of young people following acts of deliberate self-harm and/or in an acute mental health crisis. These will take place mainly in the emergency department, on the paediatric wards, at client’s home and other community sites.
To undertake initial mental health and risk assessments following other risky behaviours and urgent mental health presentations, in the emergency department, crisis hubs, at home, in school, and other community locations.
To consult with staff in local CAMHS teams to provide further specialist assessment if necessary.
To follow the assessment protocol for such cases and to complete the clinical record on System One (electronic patient records).
To formulate and implement care packages for the treatment and management of the clients’ mental health problems. These should be based on an appropriate conceptual framework and evidence-based models of practice i.e. DBT, CBT, and systemic work.
To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options in consultation with the multidisciplinary team, considering both theoretical and therapeutic models.
To act as a co-worker with other members of the multidisciplinary team as appropriate.
To provide advice, guidance and consultation to professionals working in other agencies and contribute to multi-agency care planning.
To ensure effective verbal and written communication with all staff and clients in order to maximise user involvement in the delivery of care and treatment on transfer to local CAMHS.
To maintain clinical records appropriately and in line with the Trust policy.
To comply with London Child Protection Procedures on the management of child protection issues as well as Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust internal procedures.
Contribute to and provide training to peers and the network (e.g. acute hospital colleagues)
To participate and contribute to the CAMHS clinical governance agenda.
To maintain professional registration.
To be involved in personal/professional development and update as necessary or required.
To contribute to the education and training of Emergency Department and acute hospital ward staff, and of staff from other organisations.
To initiate induction programmes for new members of staff to the service.
To develop and maintain good relationships and clear lines of communication with other professionals, agencies and departments.
To participate in staff development programmes.
To participate in the development and auditing of service standards and performance review.
To keep up to date with current developments, national guidelines and research based practise in CAMHS.
To be proactive in seeking the views of service users in helping to evaluate and review the post holder’s work and that of the service.
To keep up to date comprehensive clinical notes and prepare formal documents such as letters, discharge summaries and reports.
To maintain and record client contact statistics.
To attend team meetings, supervision support sessions and reviews as agreed
