The Role:
Rakuten Kobo Inc. is looking for a Campaign Specialist to join our Marketing Delivery team! The team supports the marketing organization by executing campaigns across multiple channels – currently email, push and kobo.com marketing areas. We create solutions to meet business requirements, write code, perform QA testing and deploy campaign elements to market.
Reporting to the Manager, Campaign Services the Campaign Specialist plays a vital role in delivering nearly flawless data-driven, and promotional email and push marketing campaigns to market. They will be responsible for interpreting business requirements to design solutions, QA testing, segment creation, email deliverability reporting, investigating data feed failures, and launch/deploy working with multiple in-house clients, to deliver high-quality customer experiences on-time.

The Person:

  • Ensures browser/OS/ISP compatibility, usability, performance, and adherence to project specifications through QA testing and working closely with producers to resolve issues
  • Creates test scenarios, test data, and sets up campaigns including dynamic elements using rule-based logic to ensure all possible issues are identified
  • Creates target audience segmentation, ensuring we reach the right audience in alignment with marketing requirements
  • Demonstrates a diligent and methodical approach to all aspects of the role
  • Launches campaigns including, but not limited to email, website banners, landing pages, and push notifications, with incredible accuracy
  • Monitors and audits for campaign deliverability and data accuracy in live CRM messages
  • Quick to respond to live issues that may occur by assessing potential impact, creating an action plan, and communicating the issue to the appropriate stakeholders
  • Analyzes data and makes recommendations for maintaining and improving email deliverability performance
  • Demonstrates curiosity and a ‘seeking the truth’ mentality and approach to situations and projects
  • Takes initiative to dig in and solve any challenge presented
  • Can work both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot code or data-related issues
  • Maintains an in-depth, up-to-date knowledge of all relevant emerging technologies, tools, and current web/email/mobile trends, bringing forward new ideas to up our game
  • Challenges the status quo, going above and beyond on assigned projects
  • Is focused on efficiency
  • Consistently identifies and recommends improvements in the production workflow
  • Identifies and suggests ways to improve data integrity, field management and automation within marketing platforms
  • Seeks out and applies new tools, programs, methodologies, and practices for the improvement of the email, push, and web production process
  • Stays abreast of latest developments in marketing automation technologies, including Oracle Responsys
  • Provides recommendations to optimize customer journeys
  • Excels in a fast-paced and collaborative working environment
  • Interacts with internal and external teams to ensure that all projects will display and function as expected
  • Works with project managers and stakeholders to understand campaign requirements, questioning if we are building the best customer experience possible, and up-to-date on project progress
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Learns quickly working independently with the ability to self-manage and multi-task on a day-to-day basis

The Skillset:

  • 1-2 years of experience working with marketing cloud platforms (ex: Responsys Interact, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe Marketing Cloud, Marketo, etc.) with a focus on marketing automation
  • Comfortable working with cloud-based tools for project collaboration (ex: Clickup, Asana, Figma, Box, Slack, etc.)
  • Aptitude for logic based statements/segmentation and multi-channel campaign coordination
  • Ability to work independently and successfully in a dynamic, fast-paced culture
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong project management and organizational skills – proven ability to own and execute several projects at once
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Nice to Haves:

  • Understanding of SQL statement logic
  • Understanding of HTML/CSS/JavaScript coding languages
  • Familiarity with Oracle Responsys
