Description:
The Campus Safety Officer provides safety services to the campus, ensuring security to the Emma property and maintaining a safe educational environment for students, staff and guests. The Officer will assess problem situations and exercise tact and judgment in bringing about their resolution individually or in conjunction with the school administration as appropriate.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS / COMPETENCIES:
- Must obtain and maintain a current NYS Security Officer license. On-site security officer training provided.
- Must possess and maintain a valid NYS driver’s license.
- Must be a strong collaborative team member.
- Have a good working knowledge of computer based door and camera monitoring systems.
- Have patience, enthusiasm, and the ability to manage priorities.
- Demonstrate superior judgment.
Responsibilities:
- Interact positively with campus community members on a daily basis and assist members in identifying potential safety and/or security issues.
- Represent Emma Willard School by providing professional and courteous assistance when answering incoming phone calls and receiving visitors on campus.
- Calls directed, and messages taken accurately with every effort taken to ensure that callers feel that they have been helped.
- Conduct vigilant patrols of campus and other school owned property on foot, cart, and/or motor vehicles.
- Provide excellent customer related services to students, staff, and visitors.
- Direct traffic as necessary; provide directions and other assistance to students, staff and visitors.
- Respond efficiently to all calls for assistance. Knowing when to make the proper notifications with other personnel, as well as Troy Police, and/or Fire Department.
- Conduct safety training; including fire drills, lock down drills and evacuation drills.
- Investigate all incidents during assigned shifts and maintain detailed and accurate reports.
- Ensure that activity logs are maintained and updated accurately.
- Monitor and manage campus cameras and door access systems.
- Observe safety hazards and promptly report them to appropriate persons, as well as responding to all security and fire alarms.
- Unlock/secure appropriate buildings/rooms and facilities as directed.
