Description:

OVERVIEW:

Ursinus College is seeking a full-time Campus Safety Officer (CSO) to work an assigned schedule which will include nights, weekends, and holidays. In addition, the successful candidate will be required to work special events, attend mandatory in-service training, including monthly staff meetings, as well as be available for overtime when necessary.
CSOs are non-sworn, unarmed employees tasked with providing a safe and secure environment for the Ursinus community and all its members. They act as first responders to all critical incidents on campus, manage the incident management process, and initiate appropriate emergency response procedures, as needed. CSOs are expected to be ambassadors for the college and provide exceptional customer service to all members of the college community. Successful candidates will not only show an aptitude for handling emergencies but also demonstrate interpersonal skills, professionalism, and a team-oriented mindset to serve the college community and create a safe environment for learning and growth.

The days and hours for this position are:

  • Tuesday – Friday from 9 pm to 7 am
  • Friday – Monday from 9 pm to 7 am
  • Saturday – Tuesday from 9 pm to 7 am

Determination of shift will be based on department needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and administrative skills
  • Understanding of higher education setting and ability to work with persons of diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts proactive patrol of buildings, facilities, properties, and other assets via foot, bike, or motorized vehicle. May also be posted at a fixed post, as needed.
  • Responds to all incidents on campus, including medical emergencies, mental health crises, fire alarms, and burglary alarms
  • Respond to calls for service such as: escorts, jump starts, lockouts, thefts, and vandalism
  • Conducts initial investigations, collects witness statements, and photographs scenes
  • Completes incident reports that are detailed, clear, and concise
  • Performs the opening and closing of all campus buildings
  • Provides parking enforcement
  • Maintains confidentiality of information
  • This position is a Campus Security Authority as designated under the Jeanne Clery Act of 1990
