Shepherd Village is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic high school or post-secondary student to join our team for a full-time summer position as a Faith ’n Tech Program Director.
This role is part of an inter-generational initiative aimed at advancing digital literacy among older adults while exploring spirituality through various forms of technology. The successful candidate will play a vital role in bridging the gap between faith and technology for our elderly residents.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A commitment to Christian values and a desire to facilitate spiritual growth through technology.
- Experience, or interest in gaining experience, working with older adults, particularly those with varying levels of physical and cognitive abilities.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds and cognitive levels.
- Passion for both technology and spirituality, with an understanding of the intersection between faith and digital literacy.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine interest in enhancing the well-being of older adults.
- Ability to adapt and modify activities to meet the diverse needs of residents.
- Communicate positively with other staff, residents, and their families.
- Positive attitude and a willingness to assist older adults with excellent customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Digital Literacy Workshops: Plan and conduct interactive digital literacy workshops for residents, covering topics such as basic computer skills, internet navigation, social media usage, and video calls.
- Spiritual Exploration through Technology: Develop and implement projects that encourage residents to explore their spirituality through the use of technology, such as virtual prayer groups, online devotionals, and digital scripture study sessions.
- Intergenerational Tech Buddy Program: Create a program that pairs tech-savvy students with older residents to provide one-on-one assistance with using smartphones, tablets, and computers. Foster meaningful connections between generations.
- Multicultural Technology Showcase: Organize a multicultural technology showcase event that highlights diverse cultural aspects through digital mediums. Encourage residents to share and celebrate their unique cultural backgrounds through technology.
- Adaptive Technology Accessibility Project: Identify and implement adaptive technology solutions to address the diverse cognitive and physical challenges of our residents. This may include exploring assistive devices, voice-activated technology, and customized digital tools.
