We are looking for someone who a proven track record of successfully managing large-scale corporate projects with strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools. You will have excellent leadership and team management skills with outstanding communication and negotiation abilities.

Specific requirements:

  • A degree or equivalent level of qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Professional Project Management qualification – Prince 2 Practitioner or equivalent
  • Trained in the use of MS project, and MS office professional.
  • Good experience and knowledge of the legislative context of property management in a large, diverse and complex organisation.

THE ROLE IS A HYBRID ROLE WITH PART WORK FROM HOME AND PART OFFICE

It is an exciting time for the council as we invest in the regeneration of our town through delivering major capital investment in improving our town. A key project we are leading is to revitalise the Civic building to incorporate a new central library following a successful bid for Levelling Up Funding from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Capital Project Manager to work closely with the Project Director to lead the successful delivery of capital projects. You will be responsible for overseeing and managing the planning, design and construction of major capital projects. You will ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while coordinating multiple competing priorities.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning and implementation of capital projects from inception to completion with good understanding of RIBA project life cycle.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules and resources, ensuring good attention to detail and scrutiny.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, lawyers and other stakeholders to ensure all project objectives are met.
  • Conduct and maintain risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor project progress ensuring milestones and overall project delivery is achieved, providing regular updates through governance board meetings.
  • Effective data management, preparation of all documentation including agendas, reports, action logs etc. for relevant meetings.
  • Collate, prepare and submit all necessary data in relation to grant funding reporting.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
