THE ROLE:

Affinity Water is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and delivering environmental benefits. As stewards of the environment, we are committed to leaving the environment in a sustainable and measurably improved state.
We measure, track and report the greenhouse gas emissions we are responsible for from across our business. The Carbon & Environment Analyst role collates and analyses our greenhouse gas emissions data and provides performance insights. If you are curious about what sits behind results and enjoy working with a variety of different types of data and people, this could be an exciting opportunity for you.
Working closely with the Climate Change and Carbon Manager, the role ensures our emissions are reported accurately to our teams, customers, regulators and other key stakeholders. As a team we guide and support the business to reduce greenhouse gas emission, this presents wider opportunities to work with colleagues on carbon reductions projects and engagement activities.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Collation and validation of the primary data which is used to estimate greenhouse gas emissions across Affinity Water
  • Utilising the Water Sector’s Carbon Accounting Workbook to estimate greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Developing insights into greenhouse gas emission performance.
  • Support tracking and progress reporting on Net Zero targets.
  • Working with colleagues to understand and develop emission reduction projects. Forecast and track the carbon benefit of these projects.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely reporting of greenhouse gas emissions and compliance with external standards.
  • Driving continuous improvement in the quality of our emissions reporting
  • Working with the Climate Change and Carbon Manager to analyse emissions reports and drive emissions reductions across the business.
  • Actively engage with regulators, Water UK, and others to shape future industry approaches to greenhouse gas emissions accounting.
  • Provide administrative support our internal governance structures which oversee emissions reductions.
  • Contribute to discussions in the industry through conferences, events, and publications.
