Description:

There is an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Cardiac Physiologist to join the Cardiac Physiology team at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
We have a friendly, dynamic inter professional cardiology team consisting of, Cardiology specialist Nurses, Clinical Physiologists and 11 Consultant Cardiologists who offer a wide range of invasive and non-invasive services across the cardiology field to the Northumberland, Tyne and Wear area.
The department currently offers physiologist led exercise testing, ambulatory monitoring services and a well-established device’s service including both low and high voltage device implantation (including CSP) and follow up of specialist devices such as ICD’s and CRT’s. We perform diagnostic angiography with plans to open a second PCI cath lab in the future.
We also have an extensive echocardiography service offering Transthoracic Echocardiography, Transoesophageal echocardiography, stress echocardiography, exercise echocardiography and contrast studies.
We are a forward thinking department and encourage development of staff including training towards national accreditation.
Healthcare Science (Cardiology) under graduates are encouraged to apply if they are due to complete their course in summer 2024. They will be employed on an annex 20 position until all essential criteria is gained. Usual expected timeframes for this are within 6 months of commencing employment.

Responsibilities:

Carry out and interpret ECG’s
Provide analysis for ambulatory ECG’ sand BP’s
Carry out exercise tolerance testing
Providing hemodynamic monitoring during diagnostic angiography
Provide technical support during pacemaker and ILR implantation
Develop skills in pacemaker follow up
Contribute to the ILR follow up service
Would be supported to undertake specialist training resulting in national accreditation in either CRM or Echo.

Participate in the delivery of a specialist clinical diagnostic service and deliver high standard of care to all patients, including:
Performing and reporting 12 lead ECG.
Application, removal and analysis of ambulatory monitoring.
Give technical assistance during pacemaker/ICD implantation and assist in the provision of pacemaker follow up clinics.
Provide hemodynamic monitoring during cardiac angiography.
Take lead position during technically led Exercise Tolerance Testing.
Under supervision perform and report transthoracic echocardiograms.
Assist during TOE and Stress Echo procedures.
