Job overview
As a Trainee Healthcare Scientist STP, Cardiac Physiology you will be responsible for your own progression through the training programme, for completing the learning outcomes as outlined in the Curriculum Library, progressing through a mixture of work based competence and experience in NHS scientific departments and undertaking the complementary academic master’s programme at the designated Higher Education Institution.

Main duties of the job
You will be expected to work within standard operating policies and procedures of the Sarlford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and the Northern Care Alliance and adhere to high standards of professionalism, health and safety, risk reduction, confidentiality, patient care and dignity, and respect for equality and diversity as set out in the NHS Constitution.
As a Trainee Healthcare Scientist cardiac physiology you will be employed by Cardiorespiratory Investigations at Salford Royal for a fixed term of three years, during which time you will work through a fulltime programme combining work-based learning and a part-time academic programme at master’s (MSc) level.

The trainee will undertake the full training programme to progress through the modules of the training scheme. In so doing they will learn how to perform and interpret clinical and specialist scientific processes underpinned by theoretical and applied knowledge and practical experience

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • BSc degree in a relevant physiology 1st or 2.1

Desirable criteria

  • MSc degree in a relevant physiology

Professional Registration

Desirable criteria

  • Qualified for RCCP/AHCS Registration

Knowledge, Training & Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience working in a healthcare setting in a Cardiac department
  • Basic knowledge of Echocardiography

Desirable criteria

  • Able to perform routine lung function testing
  • Basic knowledge of Pacemakers
