BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Current certificate of competence in the province of Ontario;
  • B.Sc.N OR a College Diploma in Registered Nursing combined with a minimum of ten (10) years nursing experience;
  • Currently working in the O.R. with five (5) years O.R. experience;
  • Two (2) years leadership experience;
  • Demonstrated leadership ability: communication, problem solving, decision making;
  • Demonstrates knowledge of quality assurance, risk management and workload measurement principles and application;
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills;
  • Demonstrates in depth knowledge of Operating Room nursing principles and practices;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and the application related to staff development and performance review as well as a commitment to actively participate in the process;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CQI process and participation in the process;
  • Demonstrated skill in oral and written communication;
  • Demonstrated commitment to personal continuing education and ongoing staff education, unit projects and committees.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Perioperative Certification CPN(c);
  • Unit/hospital committee membership;
  • Demonstrated skill in using hospital based computer systems (e.g. Microsoft Office, EPIC);
  • Proficiency in English and French – oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
