    Cape Breton University invites applications for the Career Development, Employer Engagement Specialist in the department of Career Service. This is a Full-Time Continuing Role commencing August 1st or soon thereafter.
    The Career Services team at CBU assist students from academic life to career launch. Our team comprises dedicated Student Development Officers and Student Placement Officers who offer a range of services tailored to your needs.
    The Career Development, Employer Engagement Specialist will work with the Career Services team in collaboration with key stakeholders, both internal and external, in order to maintain and develop productive external employer relations. With student experience and effective recruitment being a focus of this position, the incumbent will maintain existing employer relationships and expand connections in all sectors, specific to Cape Breton University’s graduate outcomes.

Qualification of this role are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in work integrated learning or a related field
  • Career Practitioner Certification considered an asset
  • Minimum 2 years-experience in student placement and employer relations or equivalent
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent time-management and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability and desire to work independently in a fast-paced environment and complete multiple tasks and a large volume of work in a timely and effective manner
  • The ability to work well with others, both internally and externally, from a wide variety of backgrounds
  • Some evening and weekend work required
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office
  • Ability to learn new software programs quickly and effectively
  • Experience planning and facilitating sessions and career-related events, both large and small for a variety of stakeholders, including employers and students
  • Strong understanding of talent management and campus recruitment
