Student Success and Well-Being – Career Services
Career Services (CS) provides comprehensive career services and programs to assist a diverse student population in developing, evaluating, and effectively initiating and implementing career, education, and employment decisions and plans through collaborative internal partnerships with UCF administrators, faculty, and staff, as well as effective external partnerships with key employers.
The Opportunity:
This position directly supports the recruiting and marketing efforts for the UCF Lockheed Martin College Work Experience Program (CWEP). For over 40 years UCF and Lockheed Martin have partnered to offer this program that allows undergraduate and graduate students to gain real-world work skills and abilities relevant to their academic and career goals. CWEP is a unique, year-round paid opportunity to have hands-on learning experiences.
This position/classification may be moved at management’s discretion within the SSWB division to a commensurate level position as determined by the Vice President of Student Development and Enrollment Services or their designee.
This is a Contract and Grant (C&G) funded position. Employment is subject to availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage applicant tracking system by processing student applications and determining eligibility for CWEP Program.
  • HR processing for the CWEP Program which includes overseeing the entire I-9 verification process for new hires.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive employee information contained in the I-9 forms.
  • Coordinate and process orientation and on-boarding requirements. This consists of contacting students regarding position offers and scheduling them to meet with a Career Services notary.
  • Prepare and process New Hire Packets.
  • Assist students with new hire tasks and answer questions related to the hire.
  • Serve as CWEP payroll timekeeper in absence of the Program Manager.
  • Submit and manage CWEP requisitions in Workday. Manage Service Central Requests from Lockheed Martian Managers.
  • Collect resumes from workday and forward them to the relevant channels.
  • Run monthly background checks for CWEP.
  • Market the CWEP program by attending various events on-site/off-site including hosting monthly CWEP information sessions and social media.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for prospective CWEP students.
  • Build and maintain relationships across campus with on-campus organizations as well as build relationships with CWEP alumni.
  • Conduct interviews with current and former CWEP enrollees to garner feedback on the program as well as gauge interest on who would be interested in participating with recruiting events.
  • Utilize social media profiles to market the program (Facebook, lnstagram) and collaborate with the Career Services team regarding other online opportunities (i.e. Reddit/AMAs).
  • Present virtually or in-person for classroom presentations and events as a guest speaker.
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate networking events and opportunities for current CWEP students to promote the culture of the program.
  • Coordinate CWEP Meet & Greets, Workshops, Coffee with a CWEP, and other marketing events.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of relevant experience or Master’s degree and 0+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Higher Education (can include OPS or other professional experience) and/or knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity and other local, state, and federal laws pertaining to employment.
  • Proven communication and customer service skills, particularly in a fast-paced environment with diverse groups (students, staff, faculty, and employers).
  • Experience working with databases such as Handshake or Workday.
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize, plan, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience working independently, managing/supervising staff, and working with self-directed teams.
  • Proven aptitude for developing and maintaining relationships, strong team member skills.
