Description:
Job Purpose: Accountable for efficiently handling the daily cargo operations in the station including taking appropriate action and making timely decisions in conjunction with the Cargo Manager, cargo team, ground handler and HQ ensuring adherence to EK SkyCargo procedures and regulatory compliance requirements.
Provide existing and potential customers with a superior and consistent quality service, both directly and in conjunction with GHA.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Plan, organise and co-ordinate the operational activities to ensure optimal efficiencies and productivity, delegating responsibilities to and controlling subordinate staff and GHA/third party contractors as appropriate
- Monitor and oversee the service provided by GHA to ensure it is in line with EK standards, and where there are shortcomings, to address these appropriately and in a timely manner. Where appropriate, make recommendations and implement process improvement with GHA. Ensure compliance of all EK safety and regulatory procedures
- Resolve problems arising such as delays, disruptions, cargo mishandling and transfer cargo. Review and update monthly cargo irregularity reports
- Review, collate and compile the cargo documentation for cargo uplifted on flights in accordance with local regulations and company policies
- Conduct and/or oversee quarterly and annual audits of the GHA and provide remedial actions as required. Ensure compliance to SLA’s and CIQ station performance levels are being met
- Ensure station administration records are up to date and that staff undertake all required training within required time lines, Ensure that communications from HDQ such as CO B/CON/COA are read and understood by EKSC staff and GHA staff where required
- Investigate and respond to queries, complaints and claims received from internal and external customers in an efficient and timely manner, restoring customer confidence
- Update and maintain Cargo Systems in order to provide the requisite customer service information and produce and analyse periodic reports and statistics such as CIQ data that can be used in discussions with the GHA to improve performance
- Accurately rate and verify shipment charges in accordance with correct product tariff, contract or adhoc rates. Complete CASS reconciliation to ensure revenue accuracy and maintain revenue reporting records. Update and maintain Cargo Systems in order to provide the requisite customer service information, including rate filing and facilitate accurate revenue accounting
- Support Cargo Manager with sales activities to obtain and exceed revenue targets. Apply and maintain adhoc, contract and tariff rates as appropriate, ensuring shipment charges are verified accurately and reconciled with CASS statements. Review and respond to charges correction advice requests.
- Station Cargo Operations Process Owner (COPO) responsibilities. Ensure all critical safety checkpoints are followed to meet strict regulatory standards at all points of handling. Maintain station training records, regulatory manuals, conduct regular station audits, review GHA training records, equipment safety checks and cargo security compliance. Receive, interpret and distribute EK procedural updates (CON, COB, COAs) and maintaining distribution records
Supervisory accountabilities:
- Motivate, train and give feedback to staff to ensure all tasks are completed on time and to ensure high standard of service is maintained
- Provide and implement on the job training and manage performance, including corrective action. Undertake performance appraisals and development planning
- Deputise for the Cargo Manager where no senior manager is on duty and/or act as the Duty Manager
- Support the CM with Commercial Activities so that revenue, tonnage, yield objectives are achieved
- Qualifications & Experience: Educated to Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (or equivalent)
- Significant experience in a Cargo Operations environment, including proven experience as a Team Leader or at a Supervisory level
- Knowledge of Dangerous Goods regulations and currently holds / has previously held a DG certificate
- Knowledge of Ramp & Freighter Operations and EK 4-eye principle
- Knowledge of Advanced Load Control, Weight & Balance procedures and Live Animal Regulations
- PC based skills including Microsoft Word/Excel/E-mail
- Strong analytical and numeracy skills
- Fluency in written and spoken English is essential
