Not to exceed 89 days. Continuation is dependent on satisfactory performance, program needs and availability of funding. Duties: Under general supervision of the Student Support Services Project (SSSP) Director, the incumbent will be responsible for assisting the Director in all aspects of programming and project administrationEnsure successful and timely completion of the Annual Performance Report.Maintain central student tracking database, oversee maintenance of student data and records and reviewing data for accuracy, completeness, and formatting.Work closely with the Director in all aspects of hiring, training, providing evaluation, scheduling, work attendance, and professional development of full-time project staff and student employees.Responsible for collaborating with academic advisor(s) to develop, implement, and evaluate high quality, researched based set of activities, workshops, and support services for program participants including the tutoring program. Responsible for collaborating with project staff to develop, implement, and evaluate a recruitment strategy for the project. Serve as the primary person responsible for all program-related communication including mailings, emails, fliers, etc. The incumbent will use social media (e.g. Facebook, lnstagram, Student Support Services Program University of Hilo webpage) to provide event reminders, notification of key deadlines, cancellation/changes in activities and student support services, etc.Work with the Academic Advisor(s) to ensure that students receive required services (academic advising, financial aid counseling, etc.). This includes tracking and documenting that every student receives required services, identifying any challenges to completing a 4-year degree and providing corrective measures, arranging meetings with participants and staff, and referring students to resources.Serve as the second-level review of project expenses, careful to ensure that they are reasonable, allowable, and allocable the program activities and support services: meet federal regulations outlined in the Student Support Services Grant Award Notification (e.g., EDGAR and 2 CFR); ensure supporting documentation is sufficient enough to provide evidence during any internal/external fiscal review.Provide support services to program eligible college students (low-income, first-generation college students, and students with disabilities) in the following areas: academic advising, financial aid/scholarship counseling, career planning, and personal guidance. Work with the Director on providing professional development opportunities for program staff and the opportunity to participate in workshops in national conferences.Other duties as assigned by the Director. Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution and 5 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for student services; or equivalent education/training or experience.Familiarity with grant funded programs and requirementsDemonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software including Microsoft Office and Google Suites.For supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.Available to work evening and/or weekends. Desirable Qualifications: Possession of a Master’s degree from an accredited institutionExperience working in a TRIO or similar higher education equity program.
