About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Casual Registered Nurse for our Geelong Withdrawal Unit! You will provide nursing support and care for clients of the Geelong Withdrawal Unit and support clients seeking to recover from addiction. Nursing staff are employed to cover the 24-hour period with clinical supervision provided by Nurse Team Leader and Nurse Practitioners.
What is the Geelong Withdrawal Unit?
The Geelong Withdrawal Unit provides a residential medicated withdrawal service for those who are seeking to recover from alcohol and other drugs issues. Clients reside in the Unit during their episode of care and are provided with all meals and facilities.

Responsibilities include

  • Clients are fully aware of their treatment plan and inducted into the programme
  • Clients are provided with their withdrawal medication in a respectful fashion and in accordance with their medication chart
  • Clients are actively encouraged to participate in the programme
  • Clients feel listened to and involved in their recovery
  • Activities are monitored and clearly communicated at handover meetings
  • Professional, respectful and collaborative relationship is maintained with AOD Support staff

This is a casual position based in Corio, VIC. Salary and conditions are in accordance with Enterprise Agreement Geelong Withdrawal Unit Award.

What you will have

  • Degree or equivalent in Nursing and a current Div 1 certificate
  • Cert IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs Competencies CHCAOD 2C, 6B, 8C, 9C AND 10A
  • Experience in AOD sector service delivery and skills in managing challenging behaviours
  • Understanding the mission and values of The Salvation Army
  • Ability to respond to the needs of individuals experiencing AOD issues
  • Demonstrates knowledge of AOD types and effects
  • Address the needs of dual diagnosis clients
