Description:

The On Call- Casual Worker, under the supervision of the Guardian program and the Yinka Huwunline manager, will be responsible for filling various Field Assistant positions to represent Nak’azdli Whut’en as a participant. They shall be responsible for assisting and accompanying various industry representative on Nak’azdli territory that include mostly field-based activities as directed by their field supervisor which will often be 3rd party proponents (such as Ecofor, Archer, Stantec, etc).
Reporting Manager: Yinka Huwunline Manager
Type: Contractual Part Time for 6 months

Duties:

  • Participate in safety assessments and tailgate meetings
  • Understand and conduct various field work activities
  • Effectively provide support to field crew as directed by team lead
  • May walk long distances over challenging terrain, and/or in the bush
  • May be asked to provide knowledge of the lands and associated area (as a Keyoh representative)
  • Observe, record and report wildlife and/or other environmental topics
  • May have archeological, biology or hydrology duties, dependent on assigned work project
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS:

  • Grade 10 Diploma an asset
  • Post-Secondary accreditations an asset
  • Environmental monitoring or related experience
  • Effective interpersonal communication
  • Working knowledge of digital and physical filing systems
  • Experience with All Terrain Vehicles
  • Knowledge of backroad practices and safety
  • Experience reading maps and navigating
  • Clear Criminal Record Check
  • Valid BC Class 5 Drivers license and Abstract
