CATEGORY DEVELOPMENT ANALYST

  • End-to-end delivery of customer-focused category plans and range reviews: This includes developing, implementing, and monitoring category plans and range reviews to ensure they meet customer needs and drive business growth.
  • Driving continuous improvement: The analyst will identify and implement opportunities to improve category performance, including efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction.Providing analytical support: This includes developing and delivering insights, reports, and recommendations to support category managers in making informed decisions.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Category Development Analyst is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of customer-focused category plans and range reviews for our Category Managers, driving continuous improvement while providing analytical support including developing business improvement opportunities and generating proactive & actionable insights.

  • Partner with Category Managers by deriving data led insights, providing recommendations on category strategy and influencing to land customer first results
  • Identify category opportunities through structured analysis and problem solving across different areas; including customer behaviour, market trends, category performance, pricing, supplier dynamics
  • Incorporate strategic insights from qualitative and quantitative consumer and category research into ranging decisions
  • Use analytical tools to drive insights; including category segmentation, clustering, range performance and product optimisation
  • Consult and collaborate confidently with stakeholders across the business to achieve desired outcomesDemonstrating continuous improvement and evolving category development process in line with the company’s strategic objectives

With a strong understanding of retail through experience as a Retailer, Supplier, or Consultant with one of the leading Consultancy firms, you will bring to the role a track record in demonstrating stakeholder management and influencing skills, alongside strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.

  • Curious to understand customer behaviour and its links to commercial outcomes
  • Understanding of business implications of range & space strategy recommendations, including commercial & operational impacts
  • Clear analytical thinking, with capability of breaking information into component parts, patterns and relationships
  • Capable of interpreting data and deriving actionable insights for short and long term strategies
  • A track record in demonstrating stakeholder management and networking to build working relationships to deliver results
  • Able to challenge effectively and demonstrate resilience
  • Confident communicator and storyteller; with strong visualisation, verbal and written skills
  • An agile worker with the ability to work as part of a team but also independently where requiredAdvanced Excel functions e.g. pivot tables, formulas and conditional formatting; with basic SQL skills a plu
