Description:

Further, the incumbent will be responsible for negotiating and facilitating implementation of long-term agreements and/or partnerships with suppliers and internal stakeholders. The incumbent will also be involved in facilitating and driving cost reduction initiatives within the category by improving performance and quality and by driving down total cost of ownership within the supply base.

Your key responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy and develop objectives that are aligned with Queensland Health (QH) and whole of government priorities, including drawing on contributions from key whole of government stakeholders, Hospital and Health Service customers and internal subject matter experts.
  • Oversee the development, coordination and implementation of the category strategy and monitor and report on progress, including input to performance reports for the governing body for QH’s procurement strategy and other key stakeholders.
  • Develop deep category, product and supplier knowledge to facilitate the planning, coordination and realisation of projects and activities that drive continuous improvement within the category and the procurement function.
  • Delivery of the category strategy including specified outcomes and key performance indicators.
  • Set baselines, targets, track benefits and finalise savings.
  • Ensure standard procurement processes that comply with QH governance requirements are adhered to by the category teams whilst also identifying opportunities to improve those processes.
  • Manage and control the agreed overhead budget for the category team.
  • Ensure adequate analysis and planning is undertaken to enable effective supplier negotiations which delivers a sound cost base and strategic commercial agreements which optimise value for money.
  • Ensure early procurement engagement in significant spend areas to maximise procurement’s impact.
  • Provide overall leadership to the category team to create value for QH and the whole of government through the development and implementation of effective and efficient procurement strategies and services.
  • Provide coaching to team members’ which supports individual professional development and actively supports ongoing learning and development.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for employee engagement and ensure appropriate communication is in place to ensure that a culture of accountability and customer service developed.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, clients and customers ensuring that their diverse needs are managed to drive process efficiencies and maximise benefits.
  • Ensure contingency planning is in place for all key suppliers, products and services.
