THE POSITION
As a Category Manager at Boehringer Ingelheim, your role will be global and cross-functional. You will be instrumental in driving the development and execution of category strategies that incorporate Primary Market Research, Market Access, and Secondary data.
Your strategic decisions will add significant value, enabling the company to devise effective market access and pricing strategies. You will set new benchmarks in terms of speed to market, sustainable long-term sourcing decisions, competitive sourcing, and productivity enhancement.

REQUIREMENTS
- Master’s degree or Diploma in business administration and/or pharmacy and/or chemistry
- Several years of sourcing experience in the pharmaceutical industry, in contracting and supplier relationship management, ideally in global category management related categories.
- Specific market intelligence and sourcing experience in relevant categories are required.
- Knowledge of demand management, market and supplier analysis, due diligence, risk management, and key performance indicators such as total operating costs, savings, net present value
- Open-minded, motivated, persuasive, and perseverant personality with outstanding internal and external relationship management skills and willingness to take on responsibility
- Fluency in English, German knowledge is a plus
Responsibilities:
- Strategic strength, persuasiveness, and assertiveness: You’ll be well prepared to develop and implement sourcing strategies for your global categories that will set new standards with regards to speed to market, long term sustainable sourcing decision, competitive sourcing, and productivity.
- Striving to make innovation happen you’ll keep a close eye on supply markets, search and find new partners, service providers and solutions for your categories, assess risks and develop new channels to create value.
- You lead cross-functional teams that implement innovative processes which result in external cost reduction and negotiations to find competitive solutions and finalize contracts for Primary and Secondary Market research and Market Access.
- Furthermore, you’ll identify new suppliers, assess existing and prospective ones, and build close relationships to current and new business partners.
- For supply related risks, you liaise closely with internal business partners and local purchasers, to identify, evaluate and classify sourcing risks, devise risk mitigation measures and ensure continuous improvement.
- You will accompany the stakeholders’ in defining their expectations and requirements while preselecting service providers to meet these expectations.
