Catering Assistant – Craighead Diocesan School

Wednesday & Thursday 6am – 2.30pm (Term time only – school holidays off)
Are you an accomplished home cook and baker looking to share your passion and skill with the boarders and staff at Craighead Diocesan School for Girls in Timaru.
In this position you will open the kitchen in the morning and get the breakfast underway, setting out continental style options and cooking hot menu items. Once cleared you will create a tasty sweet for morning tea, be it scones or muffins and then help get the daily lunch offering for the boarding house and café. You will take charge of the cleaning and dish duties to make sure the kitchen is kept clean and hazard free. We require a reliable individual that shares our passion for food and excellent service, who can support us in providing consistently delicious food offerings for the students.
Experience in baking is an advantage here with the potential to learn and grow your skills further.

The ideal candidate will:

• Assist with the preparation, and serving for food for students,
• Have good time management skills and the ability to take initiative,
• Be able to work safely in an industrial kitchen with large hot pots and trays,
• Maintain a clean, tidy, safe and hazard free environment,
• Be an exceptional team player with a flexible, reliable, and committed attitude,
• Be friendly and engaging and know what it means to deliver outstanding customer service.

This position, working during school term time only, is for two mornings per week (Wednesday and Thursday 6am – 2.30pm).
You will enjoy a modern upgraded kitchen environment, support to be creative with menu ideas and options, and school holidays off. Additional hours may be available by mutual agreement to cover gaps in the roster and provide support for functions.
