DESCRIPTION

This position suits an individual who is a self-motivator and is able to work autonomously in a managerial position. There is opportunity to take ownership of the role and make it your own to motivate the wider team. The position reports directly into our parent-ran committee with monthly reportables and committee meetings required. Main responsibilities and duties include however are not limited to the following:

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operation of the centre in accordance with all relevant regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the successful planning, implementation and reflection of a program across all rooms that is reflective of an approved learning framework (EYLF and VEYLDF).
  • Ensure the centre is compliant with the OH&S policy & standards, including a safe environment maintained for educators and children.
  • Comply with, maintain and review all centre policies and procedures in accordance with relevant regulations.
  • Manage the continuous improvement and implementation of our Quality Improvement Plan.
  • Maintain, or exceed, ‘Meeting’ rating in all Quality Areas under the NQS.
  • Manage the overall budget to ensure the physical environment and resources and improve the experience for our children and families.
  • Manage the relationship with Moonee Valley City Council, including organising required building maintenance.
  • Build, promote and maintain positive relationships with children, families, educators, Committee of Management and the wider community to deliver positive and sustainable outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate leadership experience in:

  • People and culture - with an ability to build, develop, lead and retain a high performing and caring team. Appreciating the unique value cooperatives add to the childcare sector.
  • Stakeholder relations - connecting and creating strong relationships with families, children, staff and the broader local community.
  • Early years; experience as a qualified educator within in the sector.
  • Inspiring and motivating; with a passion for the early childhood industry and a focus on leading a positive culture.
  • Autonomy – ability to work autonomously with full trust independently in your role

QUALIFICATIONS

Diploma of Children’s Services or a higher qualification.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

5+ years experience as a Director or Assistant Director within an early childhood environment Extensive knowledge of all relevant regulations and statutory requirements, including the EYLF, NQS. A proven track record in the management of budgets, rosters and policies. Ability to work in partnership with parent management committee, families and the wider community. Ability to mentor and support other staff to grow and develop professionally. A demonstrated passion for childcare and commitment to our organisation’s philosophy. Level 2 First Aid, Anaphylaxis and Asthma certification. WWCC. High level of written and verbal communication.
