Description:

The Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) provides comprehensive, holistic health care and wellness care to women, including family planning, gynecologic checkups, prenatal care, in-hospital births, and postpartum care, while following established standards and practices set forth by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. Relies on education, experience, professional training, and judgement to accomplish responsibilities with a wide degree of creativity and latitude which is expected. Works under minimal supervision under the direction of the collaborating physician, as appropriate and may lead and direct the work of others within scope of practice.

  • Clinical Practice Guidelines
  • Adheres to mutually agreed upon Clinical Practice Guidelines within the scope of practice of a certified nurse midwife with collaborating physician.
  • Creates and maintains accurate records, appropriate legal documents, and other reports of patient care consistent with the requirements of local, state and/or federal regulatory agencies.
  • Quality
  • Delivers primary acute or chronic care focusing on the maintenance, achievement, and restoration of optimal functions of patients.
  • Consistently exhibits a professional manner, appearance, and performance in the approach to job related duties in an effort to maintain high standard delivery of health care. When in contact with pediatric, adolescent, or geriatric patients, performs all patient care duties in a manner that demonstrates a humanistic attitude for the physical and psychological needs relevant to the age of the patient served.
  • Promotes the quality and efficiency of his/her own performance by remaining current with the latest trends in field of expertise through participation in job-relevant seminars and workshops, attendance at professional conferences, and affiliations with national and state professional organizations. 10%

Experience - 2 years clinical experience as a Certified Nurse Midwife in a hospital setting.
Education - Graduate of an accredited Nurse-Midwifery school. Master’s or Doctorate degree in nursing with concentration in nurse midwifery or post masters-certificate in nurse midwifery.
