The Department of Social Work at the University of Vermont invites nominations and applications for the position of Chair at the rank of full professor. We are seeking applicants who wish to provide collaborative leadership to our socially progressive department and intellectually diverse community. The Department has a long history of providing social work education at both Bachelors (BSW) and Masters (MSW) levels. This is an exciting time to join the department as it is undergoing renewal and development. Several new national and international faculty have been appointed in recent years and continued growth is projected for the foreseeable future. There is planned growth in graduate programs, the potential to develop a new doctoral program, opportunities for program revitalization, and support from the university for increased research productivity, extramural funding, and internationalization. The Department has an established reputation for a philosophy of transformative perspectives and there are opportunities to expand and develop this approach. The Department of Social Work enjoys strong links with the professional community, and the field education program is developing new and innovative initiatives to increase the number of quality placements which are available.
