Description:

CHAPLAINCY AND SUPERVISION MANAGER, PLACEMENTS AND SAFE CHURCH

Unit of Synod/Presbytery/Congregation: Placements and Safe Church, Uniting Church in South Australia

Classification: Part Time Fixed Term

  • Five year fixed-term placement for Minister of the Word/Deacon
  • Two year fixed term employment arrangements for Ministry of Pastor

DESCRIPTION:

The Uniting Church has a significant commitment to chaplaincy in the health care, aged care, disabilities, mental health, schools, and other sectors. We are committed to working collaboratively with organisations associated with the Uniting Church and other denominations, government agencies and other community and business sectors to grow the ministry of chaplaincy in South Australia.
Chaplains engage with people in key moments of their life, times of grief, anxiety, and fear as well as joy and hope. The engagement may be brief, or it may be accompanying someone for years, but it is done trusting that through the Holy Spirit Jesus accompanies people throughout life. Through the provision of religious services, pastoral and spiritual care the chaplain leads and guides, sustains and reframes so that people are helped to discover God’s gracious activity in their lives as well as personal meaning and purpose.
The oversight of chaplaincy is a key part of this role. Helping to grow the ministry and steward the principles and values that guide the ministry. In Chaplaincy Position Descriptions these values are described as holism, spirituality, and pastoral care, and they are adapted for each position.
The role includes being available for pastoral counsel of chaplains. As well as more direct management of some chaplains.
