Who we’re looking for
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Charge Up Operator / Shotfirer to join our development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient execution of blasting operations, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and company policies. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety. You may also be required to carry out additional tasks such as mine services work, service checks and minor maintenance as required.
Key deliverables include, but not limited to:
- Prepare and execute blasting operations in accordance with mining plans and regulatory requirements.
- Handle, store, and transport explosives safely and securely.
- Drill blast holes, load explosives, and ensure proper placement and stemming.
- Coordinate with the mining team to clear the blast area and secure the site before detonation.
- Monitor and evaluate the effects of blasts, making adjustments as necessary to improve efficiency and safety.
- Maintain accurate records of blasting operations.
- Inspect and maintain blasting equipment to ensure it is in safe working condition.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
To be considered applicants require the following skills and experience:
- Proven track record in promoting and managing safety in the workplace.
- Proven experience in charging development headings and sound knowledge of underground metalliferous mining.
- Current NSW Explosives Licence (BEUL) & Unsupervised Handling Licence.
- Ability to operate a loader (desirable).
- Willingness to take ownership of issues associated with your role.
- Results orientated with a commitment to delivering planned outcomes consistent with ‘Safe Production’.
- Manual C Class Driver’s License is required.
You will possess a passion and drive to ensure high safety standards, be team oriented, as demonstrated by your excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
All successful applicants will be required to undertake mandatory police, working rights, qualification (if applicable) and medical checks.
Please note: Fixed term until 30th November 2025. You will be required to work a 7 days on/7 off/7 nights on/7 off roster (12-hours per day, Thursday – Wednesday). FIFO/DIDO candidates considered.
