Description:
SPECIFIC SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED
- Strong communications, negotiating & customer relations skills.
- Knowledge of marine economic analysis and of industry charter party terms and conditions.
- Knowledge of shipping cargoes and familiar with all related laws and regulations
- Ability to achieve results in a demanding and challenging environment
- A team player and computer literate.
- Relevant business degree or diploma or equivalent to min 10 years’ experience in chartering of product and chemical tankers.
Responsibilities:
MAJOR DUTIES
- Seeks best possible employment opportunities for the company owned, time-charter and commercially managed tonnage and make sure cargoes shipped in the most efficient and economical way, consistent with the company objectives, budgets and business plan.
- Maintains close liaison and good relations with customers, tanker brokers, and ship owners by meetings, phone calls and socializing.
- Manages the charter negotiating processes assigned to this office.
- Negotiates charters to satisfy customer requirements in accordance with relevant contracts and within time and cost parameters.
- Identifies opportunities in the tanker market which could be developed into profit opportunities for the company.
- Performs economic analysis, identifies and evaluates alternative chartering strategies to ensure best economics are obtained for the company.
- Provides market intelligence, updates and industry changes to management and staff on a regular basis.
- Ensures charter party terms are consistent with company procedures and in line with standard industry practice.
- Collaborate closely with the operations and commercial teams to ensure seamless charter execution.
- Attends industry, government and other meetings to stay abreast of changing industry conditions including new or proposed rules and regulations affecting the company.
- Adheres to all current company policies and procedures.
IMPACT AND ACCOUNTABILITY
- Negotiates individual charterers with freight commitments.
- Accountable to the Managing Director.
